Crazy Key West Restaurants

Here in Key West there are so many places to eat and I think we have been to them all. Whether you want to get tacos at the laundrymat or getting a Filet Mignon at Shula's, Key West has great food for everyone. A great thing about Key West reataurants is that dress is casual at all of them. So leave the tie at home unless you feel like getting laughed at.

We cannot stress how important it is to get our there and explore for new restaurants. If you keep your eyes open you will find some great restaurants in the least expected places.

As always we want to hear what you think. So if you have a favorite restaurant please let us know! We look forward to seeing you in Key West!

Our friend Dave got us into this place. I never expected the Lazy Gecko to have good food but boy was I wrong. The majority of their menu is sandwiches which they make very well. Our personal favorite is the cowboy. If you go, make sure you are hungry because their sandwiches are very large.

The Lazy Gecko is also a fun place to hang out at night. They have a vast beer selection. Our friend Dave is a Yuenglings freak so we go there for that quite a bit. They also have Pool, Foosball and that Golden Tee Golf game that we are all addicted too.

Bar none the largest burger on the Island. It's size borders on ridiculous. You won't be able to eat the entire thing. They also make great Bruschetta and their prices are relatively inexpensive. The staff is very friendly as well. They have a large variety of frozen drinks - all of them are fantastic.

If you are a football fan, Fogarty's is a great place to watch the game. There are usually some great food specials. Check out Fogartys website for more information.

Louie's Backyard is my favorite restaurant on the Island. If you are taking friends out to dinner and want to be the hero, then look no further. I have never sent anyone here who wasn't blown away by how good it was. If you go it is imperative to get there early and have a cocktail on the afterdeck bar. It is truely a religious experience to sit on the deck having drink while listening to the waves gently crashing against the desk Trust us, you will not be disappointed. Caution: it is a bit expensive. The average entree goes for around $30. Make sure to call for reservations.

If you want a crazy steak then there is no discussion about where to go. Shula's has the best steak on the Island, don't let anyone tell you different. Paradise is having a martini and a bottle of wine with a Filet Mignon from Shula's. The food is served a la carte and their portions are large. Shula's is a nice place to go during sunset so get there and have a drink before dinner. Make sure to call for reservations.

Iguana Cafe

Open 24 hrs the Iguana Cafe is the perfect place to go after the bars close and you don't feel like getting pizza at Rumrunners. The have and excellent Cafe con Leche. We recommend the Rueben sandwich there, but everything is pretty good, especially at 4:00 am. It's also a good place to get a beer to go.

Blue Heaven

Whenever friends visit we always take them to Blue Heaven. Located in Historic Bahama Village, the food is terrific and the amtosphere is wonderous. Brunch with the Roosters is not to be missed and they have the best Bloody Mary in Key West. If you are in the mood for a tropical drink, they make the best Pina Colada we have ever had. A good friend of ours just visited and we took her here for breakfast and she insisted we come back two more times she liked it that much.

Allegedly, Ernest Hemingway used to referee cock fights where Blue Heaven stands today.
